This feature is not as common as it should be. There are many pages that I'd like a friend to know about. But alas it's often just too much of a bother to copy and paste the url and then open my email program and then send the url. And in my case my outgoing email isp is not the same isp I use for browsing and ftp. So I have to wait until I re-login to my other isp. You get the drift. Basically I don't often send a url. Or to put it otherwise, I would perhaps send more urls to friends if it were easier.
If you'd like to have folks browsing your website tell their friends about your pages then this might be a useful feature.
We use a homebrew script (hand made by the good folks at Galaxy Website Design) to do our "Send-a-Page" type function. You might see others calling is something like "email this page to a friend," or simply "email page". Checkout the Perl Archives for a reference.
To see what it's like you can try our Send this page to a friend script now.
